The building
Our building started it's life being the Waterloo cinema.
At 1978 the pioneers of supermarket shopping in Huddersfield, Edward and Ian Lodge, copiing the latest retail phenomenon in USA, opening their first supermarket in a converted cinema in Marsh. It was quickly followed by converting the Waterloo cinema in a supermarket.
Lodge's was built in the 1970s by the prominent local grocery company. It was opened by Radio 1 DJ Tony Blackburn and occupied an unusual location over the River Holme beside the town's small bus station. Lodge's was bought in the 1990s by Co-operative Retail Services who eventually closed the store down in 1997, after investing in a brand new £2 million supermarket for the town.
Cheeky Monkeys commenced on the first floor of the Deal House in 2005 and was one of the first children’s play indoor areas in West Yorkshire. It was a well-known and established children’s activity centre in Huddersfield.
Deal House is an exclusive development of 8 maisonettes and 3 apartments. All high end properties and ready to move in.
